Chapter 1

What this app is for

This app teaches the business subjects: Economics, Business Studies, Accounting and Commerce, one short lesson at a time, with practice after every lesson and an explanation after every answer.

It is for learners of about fourteen and over, grown-ups included. Every course is in one app, for one price, each in its own folder on the home screen. Courses are added exam board by exam board, starting with Cambridge IGCSE.

What the app does not do

It does not mark long written answers. Marking an essay or a data-response answer properly needs a person, and the only other way would be to send the learner's work to an outside company, which this app never does. Show written answers to a teacher.

It is not a past-paper book. Every question, case study and set of figures is written for this app. Its report describes work done in the app; it is not a school grade.

Chapter 2

Getting started

Put it on your home screen

The app runs in a web browser, but it is meant to live on the home screen like any other app. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three dots and choose Add to Home screen or Install app. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap the share button and choose Add to Home Screen.

Once it is there it opens full screen and works with no internet at all.

This surprises people

Opening the file inside WhatsApp, Gmail or a file manager shows a preview, and previews do not run apps: the buttons will not respond. Ask for the web link rather than the file, and open it in Chrome or Safari.

Add the first learner

Tap Add a learner, then give a first name, an age and a picture. No email is asked for, and the free trial starts at once. Before it ends the app shows the plans; when it ends it offers a few more free days, once. An email is asked for only if you choose to pay, because the receipt goes there.

Every lesson, from the first day

Nothing is locked. The lessons are numbered in a sensible order, but a learner whose examination is close can go straight to the skill they need most.

A good routine

One lesson a day, five days a week, and one writing task each week. Read every page, and read the explanation after every answer β€” including the ones you got right. Use earphones for listening practice.

Chapter 3

The courses

Each course follows its examination board's own syllabus, topic by topic, and has its own folder on the home screen: tap a folder to see its parts, and β—€ All courses to come back.

CourseWhat is in it
Cambridge IGCSE and O Level EconomicsThe whole syllabus, topic by topic: the basic economic problem, the allocation of resources, households, workers and firms, government and the macroeconomy, economic development, and international trade, with the diagrams the examination asks for and practice in the way the papers ask questions.
Cambridge IGCSE and O Level BusinessCambridge's new course (0264) that replaces IGCSE Business Studies from 2027: business activity, people, marketing, operations, finance and the world outside the business, with a case study and exam answers in every part.
Cambridge IGCSE and O Level AccountingThe revised 2027 syllabus (0452): double entry, the books of prime entry, checking the records, year-end adjustments, the accounts of sole traders, partnerships, companies, manufacturers and clubs, ratios, and ethics. Every ledger account and statement is drawn the way a book-keeper rules it.
Ghana SHS EconomicsNaCCA's new SHS curriculum, plus the topics WASSCE still examines that it leaves out (marked "(WASSCE)"): every diagram drawn, a worked data-response or essay question in every part, and a practice part with Paper 1 sets and Paper 2 model answers.
Ghana SHS AccountingNaCCA's new SHS curriculum, plus the Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting topics WASSCE still examines that it leaves out (marked "(WASSCE)"): every account and statement drawn, a worked structured question in every part, and a practice part with Paper 1 sets and model answers.
Ghana SHS Business ManagementNaCCA's new SHS curriculum, plus the topics WASSCE still examines that it leaves out (marked "(WASSCE)"), with a Ghanaian case study like the compulsory Question 1 in every part and a practice part for both papers.
WASSCE CommerceWAEC's Commerce syllabus, as examined in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and Liberia (Ghanaian candidates sit Business Management instead), with the Question 8 calculations and practice for both papers.
Cambridge IGCSE EnterpriseSyllabus 0454: running a small enterprise of your own, from the idea to the evaluation, with a case study like Paper 1's in every part, practice for Paper 1, and what each coursework task asks. The app never writes or marks a learner's coursework.
Cambridge O Level CommerceSyllabus 7100, rewritten for examination from 2026: trade and production, supply chains, retailing and wholesaling, trading documents, international trade, transport and warehousing, advertising, banking, insurance, finance, sustainability and ethics, with a case study like Paper 2 in every part and practice for both papers.
Cambridge AS and A Level Economics, Business and AccountingSyllabuses 9708, 9609 and 9706, each in two folders, AS and A Level: every topic, the diagrams, accounts and statements each paper asks for, a data-response or structured question in every part, and practice for all four papers.
IB Diploma Business ManagementThe IB guide for first assessment 2024, SL and HL in one course (a lesson wholly for HL says "(HL)"): the five units, the toolkit, all three papers and the internal assessment. The app explains what the IA asks for and never writes or marks one.
IB Diploma EconomicsThe IB guide for first assessment 2022, SL and HL in one course: all four units and every diagram, a data response in every part, the three papers step by step, and the commentary portfolio. The app explains what the IA asks for and never writes or marks one.
AP Microeconomics and AP MacroeconomicsThe College Board's course and exam description effective Fall 2026: all six units of each and every graph the exam asks for, a free-response practice in every unit, and the multiple-choice and free-response sections step by step.
Why IGCSE and O Level share a folderFrom 2027 Cambridge's O Level Economics (2281), Accounting (7707) and Business (7081) are word for word the same courses as the IGCSE ones; only the certificate and the grades (A* to E) differ. So one course serves both.

Chapter 4

Lessons, drills and typed answers

Read the pages

Tap a lesson and its pages appear one at a time β€” Next page and Back move between them. On the last page, Start the drill appears (and Start the writing task where the lesson has one). A learner who already knows the lesson can skip straight there from any page.

The kinds of question

KindWhat the learner does
Choose the answer Taps one of three or four answers. The wrong answers are the traps the examination really sets, so guessing does not pay.
Type the answer Types a word, a few words or a number, then taps Check. The word limit is printed under the box.

How typed answers are marked

As the examination marks them. Spelling counts, and an answer with more words than the limit is wrong even when the words are right. Capital letters and spare spaces do not matter. Where the examination accepts more than one form β€” British or American spelling, a number in figures or in words β€” every accepted form is shown after the answer.

Reading passages

A reading question shows its passage in a box above the answers. The box scrolls on its own, so the question and the answers stay close by; tap its title to fold it away.

Why it is right β€” every time

After every answer, right or wrong, the app shows the right answer and why it is right, usually pointing to the words in the passage or recording. Nothing moves on by itself.

Mistakes come back

About four in ten questions in a round are drawn from what that learner has missed before. Mixed revision on the home screen draws questions from every lesson started.

Chapter 5

Working with figures

Economics, Accounting and Commerce ask for calculations: percentages, elasticity, totals, profit and the like. Every question with figures in it has a yellow pencil button. It opens a sheet of squared paper with the question across the top, for working the sum out by hand, just as in the examination. Nothing on it is kept: it is wiped for the next question.

Keep a calculator beside you where the examination allows one, and write every step. The explanation after each answer shows the working.

β–² Back to the contents
Chapter 6

Writing tasks

A writing task shows the question exactly as the examination would, how long to spend and how many words to write.

No mark is given

The model answer is one good way to answer, not the only one, and the checklist is for the learner's own judgement. The app never gives a mark for writing.

Chapter 7

The screens explained

The grown-up check

Reports, Settings, Support and the class dashboard sit behind a multiplication question. It is not security; it simply stops a report or a setting being changed by accident.

The home screen

Points, drills done, best score and the day streak sit at the top. Below them, Go straight to a part has a button for every part. Each lesson tile shows how many pages and questions it has, whether it has a writing task or speaking practice, and β€” once done β€” the percentage right or a tick for the task.

My chart and Questions I miss

My chart shows scores over time and a board of every lesson, green where it is secure. Questions I miss lists the questions this learner gets wrong most often, with a button to practise exactly those.

Settings

SettingWhat it does
Questions per round5, 10, 15 or 20. A lesson's drill never repeats a question to fill a round.
Way of speaking and voiceWhich accent and voice read the questions, models and recordings. If a voice is hard to make out, choose another and press Hear this voice.
Speed of the listening recordingsSlower to learn from, normal, or a little faster.
SoundsTurns the tones off. Recordings still play when asked for.
AnimationsTurns off movement.
Bring back questions I missed more oftenWeaves past mistakes back into rounds. Leave it on.

Chapter 8

Reports, and using it in a class

The report is written from the learner's own recorded answers: drills done, accuracy, each part and each lesson, a chart, the questions missed most with the point each one teaches, and recommendations. You can print it, save it as a PDF, email it or send it on WhatsApp. It is not a school grade.

In a class

With a class licence, the teacher's dashboard shows every learner on the device, sorted so whoever needs attention comes first. A teacher using Wake Mark.Book.Ap can bring the weekly drill marks into their mark book. Writing is sent to the teacher with the button on each writing task.

Chapter 9

Plans and activation codes

A licence belongs to the household or the classroom, not to one learner. A family paying for three learners is never asked to pay again for the second.

Activation codes

Schools can receive a code after payment. Enter it on the plans screen. You need internet for this one step: a code is checked with our server the first time it is used. After that the app works with no internet, for as long as the plan lasts.

Business.Learning.Ap codes begin WF-

Each Wake app has its own codes, and a code for one app will not open another. If the wrong one is entered, the app says which app the code belongs to.

When a plan ends

A warning appears a few days before. When it ends, nothing is deleted β€” the learner's whole history stays and returns the moment the plan is renewed.

Chapter 10

If something goes wrong

β€œMy typed answer was right but marked wrong.”

Look at the accepted answers shown: the usual cause is a spelling, a plural, or one word too many β€” all of which the examination marks wrong too. If you are sure the app is wrong, tell us through Support, saying which lesson and question.

β€œThe learner has disappeared.”

Almost always the browser's data was cleared, or the app was opened in a different browser. Results live in the browser that made them. Restore from a backup β€” see the next chapter.

β€œI see an old version.”

Close every tab of the app and open it again, with internet on.

β–² Back to the contents
Chapter 11

Your results, and how not to lose them

The part you must understand

Every result and every piece of writing lives in this browser on this device, and nowhere else. Nothing is uploaded to us. That keeps a learner's work private β€” and it means that clearing the browser, changing phone or reinstalling will lose it unless you have saved a backup. Recordings are never kept at all.

Making a backup

Settings β†’ Save a backup writes a small file to the device. Email it to yourself and it is safe. To bring it back: Settings β†’ Restore from a backup. If the learner already exists on the device, the copy with more history is kept.

Starting again, or erasing a learner

Settings β†’ Clear results wipes that learner's scores but keeps the learner and the subscription. Settings β†’ Erase this pupil removes the learner and everything they did. It cannot be undone, so save a backup first.
